My artistic expression is deeply rooted in themes of self-healing, cultural anthropology, and the challenges encountered by marginalised communities in South Africa. Being diagnosed with epilepsy at a young age brought significant pain, leading me to frequently ponder the question,

“Why me?” This personal struggle has driven me to utilise wood art as a form of therapy; the act of carving allows me to clear my mind of any seizures, serving as a means of survival. I view wood as a form of medication, complemented using herbs, and I carve away my problems through this creative process. I practice traditional wood carving, a skill inherited from my father, which I believe is a natural talent that enables me to express my inner emotions, including pain, sorrow, and discontent, as reflected in the faces of the characters I create. My paintings and drawings serve as a manual for my sculptures, allowing viewers to grasp the profound meanings embedded within my work.
