Rob Le Roux Freedom Challenge in aid of Children’s Burns Unit.
In June 2023 I will have the privilege of mountain biking across our beautiful country. As I take on this challenge to complete the full distance of 2150km (https://www.freedomchallenge.org.za/copy-of-race-across-south-africa) I would like to challenge you to follow my progress updates and learn more about the crisis of child burn injuries as well as give you the opportunity to donate towards the building of a state of the art Burn Unit at Greys Hospital, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa (https://burncare.co.za/) (https://goo.gl/maps/rjEjQCKpsWaLei8f9), and a chance to make a real difference in the lives of children in need. The Smile Foundation is a non-profit organisation that assists with raising awareness funding for hospitals who provide critical support and resources to children who have suffered from burn injuries. Their mission is to ensure that every child in need receives the best possible medical care and emotional support necessary for their recovery and rehabilitation. By donating, you have the opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to making a positive impact in the world. Your support will help The Smile Foundation provide specialised equipment, medical treatment, and other vital resources necessary for the children to overcome their challenges and lead a normal life. We hope you will consider joining us in this incredible journey and opportunity to support burn care for children. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of these children and their families. Thank you for your consideration, and we look forward to seeing you on the trails.
Every $ raised helps enhance the ability of the Smile Foundation to perform one more surgery for one more child in need. Helping those who are unable to help themselves is food for the soul and knowing that I’m able to contribute in whatever small way possible just makes every Km I cycle, run, paddle that much easier! Sure I experience pain along the way (often due to lack of fitness haha) but nothing compared to what which the children Smile Foundation help endure! To be honest, during a race whenever I go into my pain cave, I think about those who are less fortunate and in far worse pain and it encourages me to push harder and continue fighting.
I’m wearing the brand of the charity that helps reduce their pain… there is zero chance of not finishing and crossing that finish line!
