The Dust busters is a 4-man team of avid mountain bikers, who were training to do the Trans Baviaans MTB Race on 31 January 2021.
The team consists of Pietie Tinderholm, Wouter Olivier, Driaan Cornelissen and Marius Olivier, supported by Louis Potgieter and Michael Jack.
The Trans Baviaans, a 230km single-stage / one-day mountain bike race from Willowmore to Jeffreys Bay, through the Baviaanskloof, is known as the toughest single stage race in the world.
The 2021 event was unfortunately cancelled due to the global Covid19 pandemic.
However, the team has decided to do our own rides to continue our fundraising efforts.
On Saturday 30 and 31 January the team will be riding in 2 separate ‘races’ of 200km each with Pietie and Marius riding through the Baviaanskloof from Willowmore to Patensie, and Wouter and Driaan riding 200km’s through the Cederberg mountains.
Wouter and Driaan will be supported by Wouter’s son, Johan, and Driaan’s brother-in-law, James, whilst Louis and Mike will support Pietie and Marius.
These rides can be quite challenging due to the summer heat, but we have trained and will give it our best.
Our aim is still to transform the lives of a few children by raising funds for the Smile Foundation, which assists children in need of plastic & reconstructive surgery.
The average cost to repair a cleft lip or palate is R15 000 and we would like to raise enough money to help at least two children.
We would love to see these kids and their beautiful new smiles as a result of your generous donations.
All donations, big and small, are appreciated and add up to make a big difference.
Section 18A donation certificates can be issued by Smile Foundation.
Please contact Tanya Jackson (email@example.com) if you need assistance with donations or require a certificate.
