A core aim in the development of the Unit was to create a sanctuary for the children. The Unit has been transformed from a dark and dingy space into a fun, engaging space for these children.
The Unit give a sense of calmness, contentment and security which assists with the patients’ emotional well-being.
As part of the renovation of the Burns Unit at Kimberley Hospital (R.M.S.A.H) we are raising funds to create a Recreational Outdoor OT Area for children with severe burns.
This is very important as children need mobility and they need to use their muscles to get healthy movement.
The recreational outdoor area has been designed to make it a secure, child-friendly environment whereby children will naturally be more active.
